People’s Parish

People’s Parish transforms a former Catholic cathedral, rectory, and parish center into a collection of one-of-a-kind residential spaces. Set within a historic ecclesiastical campus, the project brings new purpose to two very different buildings: a wood-framed rectory of residential scale and a monumental cathedral constructed with ornate brick, stone, plaster, steel, and tile. The development focuses primarily on one-bedroom and micro-lofted apartments, with four on-grade units within the rectory serving residents with mobility needs.

Inside the cathedral, a new modern structural system was inserted into the wide-open volume, allowing the space to become three stories of apartments while preserving the building’s historic ornamental fabric. Vaults, columns, and decorative plasterwork remain in quiet contrast with the new structure.

The result is a deeply layered adaptive reuse project where history, scale, and modern living meet with rare character.
